Weekend of Bliss

Published May 13, 2012 by dyhx

Ms Ang got married last night! After a 10-yr courtship. She’s the youngest amongst us yet the 1st to get married. And the rest of us are FAR from that haha. Looks like what they say is true, if you don’t find someone during your school days, you are more likely to remain single, for a long while.

And the statistics seem to reflect so, in the people around me:

- Garick & Lingzhi met in school

- Deb & Wenbin met in Sec school

- Audrey & Weiqiang met in JC

- Joyce & Swee met in Uni

- Louise & Ben met in Uni

- Jizahen & Gary met during internship (ok this is probably 1/2 valid only cos Gary was her boss during internship haha)

- Pris & Stefan met in Uni

- Shaoquan & Huifen met in Sec school? Or poly? not sure but certainly during school days. That’s another double-digit courtship couple.

While the future then looks bleak for me, I try to remind myself of others like Jialing & Mike, Soofang & Jiawei, Yi Hua & PS, Mon & Mel who found their partners out of school. But wait, they met @ work! Ok, looks like I should just prepare for singlehood !)#%*$^@)$^$@(!!~

Oh I digressed, as usual. Back to Ms Ang’s wedding. A lovely couple that’s certainly a match in heaven! They look great together and Garick does look like he’ll be able to take good care of Lingzhi. Weddings these days are moving towards engaging the guests

They also got Yours Truly to provide live music (with dedication) and emcee. So yes they skipped the using of friends bit :) . I must Sugi is pretty good. For those with ?, Sugi is one of the contestants for Project Superstar who later also went to Taiwan for 星光. He’s really pretty good singing live and certainly versatile enough to do both English and Mandarin covers, includingin the emcee-ing part. Ok his command of English isn’t exactly perfect but good enough not to make us cringe throughout the few hours.

Love how they chose the traditional wedding favors of cake and chocolates!

Wedding Favor

The cake is a little crumbly, more like brownie haha. Yes we were that hungry we just had to have it first while waiting. That’s the thing about Sat night Chinese weddings, they ALWAYS start REALLY late.

But yesterday’s wedding is the 1st wedding for me, where it felt like I was at an a-la-carte buffet! Cause our table was just 6 pax (the other 3 were muslims where they had their separate meals), so it’s just 6 of us, sharing food for 10! So for every dish, we had almost double portions! By the 3rd dish, we were stuffed already! Totally 值回票价, haha

Congratulations Ms Ang! Stay blissful and pretty and contribute to the Singapore birth-rate soon!

This is also the Mother’s Day weekend and Ritz went into their 2nd year, supporting Operation Smile

Valrhona Choc Banana Cake

This charity drive started last year, where the hotel sold cakes during the Mother’s Day weekend and all proceeds go to Operation Smile, to help fund surgeries for children with cleft lips. Last year they did deliveries, so there was the surprise effect for mums. This year they wanted to charge for deliveries, I guess the orders just became too overwhelming, so in the end I picked it up myself.

The cake’s not bad, but the more important thing was, it’s for a good cause!

1 more wedding to attend at end of the month. May is month of stress sia, for the pocket…
